why biset?

Dovecot is the mail server platform that much of today's email infrastucture depends on (yes, without our notice). Over time, it has become enshittified — no longer truly open source.

Biset, the humble rock dove, aims to do away with the cesspit. Biset is a messaging suite that natively speaks JSON and Markdown, supports multiple protocols (SMTP, ActivityPub, and RSS), and provides secure, DeltaChat-compatible E2E encryption.
